Ever since he was a boy, my son has wanted to be a doctor. Now that he is older, he realizes that although he wants to work in medicine, he doesn’t want to be a doctor. Fortunately there are tons of other jobs in the medical field besides being a doctor. Right now he is in a surgical tech program, and really enjoys it. He’ll be done with his schooling far sooner that he would have if he was getting a medical degree. And he’s told me that he gets just as much satisfaction out of helping the doctor as he would saving a person himself.
