I Can’t Blame my Mom
September 22nd, 2009 . by adminI can’t blame my mom, even though it started with her getting on my case about credit. “You need to establish credit,” she said. “You’ll need good credit if you want to buy a house some day.” Get a card, she told me. Buy things, then pay them off. It’s that simple. But I was a stupid kid, and it was suddenly way too easy to get anything I wanted – a new snowboard, video games. Scuba equipment, even a trip to the Florida Keys for Spring Break. Too easy to get more cards, too. Now all my credit cards are maxed out and I have school loans to pay. My mom just helped me get a debt consolidation loan. I’ve learned my lesson. The hard way.
