Fire Extinguisher Training

Fire extinguisher training in the UK is a legal requirement which is enforced under the Fire Safety Order 2005. Further more this order is additionally enforced by the UK fire service and calls for at least one individual to develop into the “responsible person” for the safety of all the other employees and the premises encase of a fire. These individuals are given tasks to carry out by law, these may include:

Maintaining the buildings fire alarm system on a daily basis, and other pieces of equipment that may be used to help achieve a safe evacuation of a building, including Emergency Lights. To help control and avoid the spread fire throughout the building and other buildings. Making sure that all members of employees, who wish to be involved in tackling or preventing a fire know how to do so. This may require you to organise further outside training form a consultant.

You may not wish to designate yourself as a fire warden, so you may have to appoint one to ensure safe evacuation of your building and take charge of the situation. The primary duty of the designated responsible person if a fire ever does occur is not only to act calm when everyone around you may be panicking, to also ensure that in event of a fire everyone gets out from the building quickly and safely. For obvious reasons avoiding injury is extremely important and if you feel comfortable after taking a fire extinguisher training course to tackle a modest fire, then do so! Seconds count in a real life situation.
