great music for ceilidh dancing
November 10th, 2011 . by adminCeilidh dancing has been going on for over 100 years. It was originally a social gathering of story telling and debate. But now they have developed to a ceilidh dance, Glasgow. Ceilidh dancing is common at parties, weddings and birthdays and is common throughout Scotland.
At these parties it is common to have a ceilidh band, Glasgow who play the Gay Gordon’s, military two step and barn dances. The music is live and is easy to pick up the moves, the music is cheery. The dances themselves may involve a mixture of spinning, jumping and lifting people.
At a ceilidh groups of ceilidh dancers gather and to the instruction of the ceilidh band, Scotland learn the moves. It is popular to hire a ceilidh band for private functions especially weddings and there are a number of good ceilidh bands Scotland available for hire. Most of them have a handful of members.
It is traditional at ceilidhs to wear a kilt. At a wedding it is considered good luck to hide a sprig of heather in the bride’s bouquet.
